The clever way from A to B

Making your holiday travel sustainable is easier than you might think. There are several ways you can reach your destination in an environmentally-friendly manner. Find out more about your options for your holiday journey here. On your next holiday trip, leave your car at home, and familiarise yourself with the advantages and the convenience of the coach and train. Lean back, relax and enjoy the ride through the countryside instead of beginning your holiday stuck in a traffic jam.

Public transport is not only more environmentally-friendly than using your own car, but also various railway companies are actively committed to sustainability. Numerous sustainability-oriented projects have been brought together by Deutsche Bahn under the slogan ‘This is green’. The journeys of all long-distance rail passengers have been powered by 100% renewable energy since 1 January 2018. In addition, the state of Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony) in conjunction with the rail company evb has put the first hydrogen-powered regional trains into operation between Cuxhaven, Bremervörde and Buxtehude.

Various long-distance coaches will bring you conveniently and inexpensively to numerous holiday destinations in Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony). Perhaps they’re heading your way?

Now, some people may be wary about the distance between the (coach) station and their accommodation. Yet, in addition to taxis, there are plenty of other options enabling a relaxed and green arrival. For example, hotels in Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony) frequently offer luggage and pick-up services.

Or you can benefit from the Kombiticket (combined ticket) offered by Deutsche Bahn, which is good for your entire journey to the East Frisian Islands – including on the coach, bus, ferry and island train. Ride directly to the East Frisian coast, and enjoy the ferry connection to the islands.
