Recommended months for a canoe tour: Optimal, Possible, Limited

Start your canoe trip at the Paddle and Pedal point in Stickhausen. From here, paddle for approximately 20 minutes until the right side of the Nordgeorgsfehnkanal (Nordgeorgsfehn Canal) flows into the Jümme and head straight along the Jümme.

In one hour, you can moor up on the right bank at the rest stop in Nortmoor and stretch your legs.

After another hour in yourcanoe on river, head right and paddle along the Leda.  At this arm of the river, it is worth taking a look at the “Pünte”, the oldest manually operated ferry in northern Europe. As mentioned above, keep to the right. You will reach the Paddle and Pedal point in the town of Leer after about 20 minutes.

Bicycles await you here, ready for your journey along the 15 km bike path back to Stickhausen. As the current changes with the tides, upstream canoe tours are also possible (the downstream version is described here).

Unfortunately your search did not yield any results.

“Once you arrive in the village of Loga near Leer, you should definitely take time out from your canoe adventures to tour the grounds of Evenburg Castle.” – Arno Ewen, manager of the Paddle and Pedal point run by Touristik GmbH “Südliches East Frisia”.

Nature conservation and navigation instructions

Canoers can go on this tide-dependent canoe trip along this river from mid-April to mid-October. Your start time depends on the tide tables as you need to arrive at your destination with the current on your side.

Nature conservation:
there are a number of protected species of plants and animals in East Frisia.
Their habitats are still unspoilt, so they can continue to live here. To keep it this way, a few rules must be followed on your adventure in the great outdoors.

Protect sensitive areas. Avoid canoe tours through overgrown banks and shallow waters (breeding and spawning grounds) and do not approach gravel, sand and mud banks (where birds nest).

Watch wildlife from afar: if possible, only watch animals from afar at a designated observation point or from a sufficient distance.
