Basket weaving

What do baskets, furniture and decorative bowls have in common? They can all be made out of wicker. Basket weaving is a natural craft that goes back hundreds of years and has been handed down from generation to generation, constantly evolving over time. In order to create a stable structure for weaving, the various materials are joined together by hand and formed into something unique, which requires strength and dexterity. Basket weavers are not just craftworkers; they’re also artists and designers. In 2016, the craft of making wickerwork was included on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list for Germany.
