The Seal Sanctuary Nationalpark-Haus in Norddeich is a recognised care facility for marine mammals with a number of achievements under its belt.
For more than 40 years, up to 150 orphaned seals, plus a few grey seals, are raised in Norddeich, prepared for life in the North Sea and released back into the wild. The sanctuary is responsible for Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony)’s Wadden Sea, which enjoys special protection as a national park and UNESCO World Heritage Site.
