Oldenburger Schlossgarten (Castle Gardens)

Just in front of the entrance gates to the pedestrian zone is a special place of peace and leisure: the Oldenburger Schlossgarten. Age-old trees, magnificent woody plants, watercourses and lush meadows characterise the 16 hectares of the park, transforming the Schlossgarten into a ‘walk-in oil painting’. Rhododendrons were cultivated here 200 years ago, and are still to be admired today as the oldest rhododendrons in Germany. The Schlossgarten has been a protected monument since 1978.

Weddings can be held on certain days each year in the Hofgärtnerhaus of the Oldenburger Schlossgarten. The Hofgärtnerhaus (Gardener’s house) in the farmyard was built along with other functional buildings between 1808-1811 in the early phase of the Schlossgarten, and now nestles in an idyllic setting amidst the lush greenery of the Schlossgarten. The wedding chamber is located on the raised ground floor of the house. In good weather, you can enjoy a drink on the terrace of the Hofgärtnerhaus. The wedding chamber in the Hofgärtnerhaus offers approximately 40 seats for guests.
