Highlights:

  1. The Zwischenahner Meer, also known as the "Pearl of the Ammerland," nestled in a beautiful natural landscape, is the third largest inland lake in Lower Saxony and a popular destination for visitors near and far.
  2. The Petri Church is the landmark of the town Westerstede. Inside, you can see wall paintings from the 15th century. In the choir, there is a crucifixion altar from the first half of the 15th century in a new shrine. The organ builder Joachim Kayser (Jever) built the organ in 1687. It is one of the most sonorous organs in the Ammerland.
  3. The landscape window "Tower at the Rhodo Queen" shows the rhododendron. From the historic Gießelhorster Kirchweg, visitors find the observation tower in a typical economic forest with many older rhododendrons that have grown up to 10 meters high. A special feature is the mirrored construction of the roof, which makes the rhododendron splendor visible inside the tower and beyond the horizon.
  4. The gallery mill "Hengstforder Mühle" in the community of Apen stands in the hamlet Hengstforde right on the Aper Tief. The two-story gallery mill was originally built in 1882. With an attached country inn, the idyllic location invites you to relax and unwind.
  5. The observation tower in Nortmoorer Hammrich near the Pünte shines in East Frisian colors. The tower is located directly on the Jümme, from where visitors have a wonderful view over the flat, wide land. An ideal place to take a short break.
  6. In the middle of a picturesque English landscape garden lies Evenburg Castle in Leer. The unique ensemble consists of the castle, the outer bailey, and the park and can be visited.
