Castle I State Museum of Art & Culture Oldenburg
Three buildings - one museum: whether a journey back to the time of the dukes in the castle, baroque painting in the Augusteum or works of classical modernism in the Prinzenpalais: with its wealth of themes, the museum invites you to discover
In addition to the Prinzenpalais and the Augusteum, Oldenburg Castle houses around 800 cultural and historical exhibits. Founded on a medieval lowland castle dating back to 1100, 400 years of European architectural history are still reflected in the façade of Oldenburg Palace today.
On the trail of history
The permanent exhibition displays medieval manuscripts, ivory carvings and Art Nouveau ensembles. Many historic rooms have been preserved to this day, including the castle hall in the neo-Renaissance style, the Marble Hall and the Green Salon.
A birthday party at the castle
Children's birthday parties are also possible at the castle: here, the little ones can play knights and princesses for a day. In a playful guided tour, they make exciting discoveries and travel back in time. In workshops, children experience topics from nature or history with all their senses, sometimes with and sometimes without accompanying adults.
