Hikers can expect near-natural managed, varied forest stands and dreamlike views. Highlights include the Klüt with its observation tower, a forest educational trail, the Finkenborn forest guesthouse, and the Klüt Hotel with its panoramic restaurant Monopol.
The hike starts at the forester's lodge at Finkenborn. From there, follow hiking trail No. 1 eastwards. When you reach the Klütturm, follow hiking trail No. 1 southwards towards Riepensteinbruch. From there, the path runs westwards until you meet the long-distance trail E1 again. Now simply follow the path northeastwards back to your starting point at the forester's lodge.
The Klütturm, which you will pass, has an exciting history: Until 1784, three forts with ramparts, walls, dry ditches, and casemates as well as advanced redoubts were built here. In 1806, the fortress was surrendered without fighting to Napoleon’s troops. The observation tower was finally built from the stones of Fort George.
