The Otter Center in Hankensbüttel is a lively nature experience center
You can experience exciting encounters with the endangered otter and its close relatives, the badger, the stoat and various native marten species at the otter center in Hankensbüttel.
The otters are very skilled swimmers. You can see this for yourself through the large porthole on the swimming pond. Thanks to the earth cuts, the badger can be observed in its den without being disturbed. The agile weasels and stoats want to be discovered in their species-appropriate habitat.

A varied program is offered around the cute animals, with show feedings, experiments, nature playgrounds and up to 60 special events. The restaurant and otter store round off the offer.

A three-kilometre network of paths, which is also suitable for wheelchair users, leads through ever-changing habitat sections with streams, meadows, heathland and a 1000-year-old forest. Show feedings of otters, badgers, stone and pine martens, stoats, mink and other animals take place every quarter of an hour at the various enclosures. The nature experience bridge with footpath, the rope ferry and the water playground provide new insights into the aquatic habitat.

A wide range of activities are available for children and adult groups at the Otter Center. For example, children and young people can go on a geocaching treasure hunt into the realm of martens using GPS devices.
