Bad Iburg
Bad Iburg was even home to a queen: Sophie Charlotte, the daughter of Prince-Bishop Ernst August and later Queen of Prussia, was born here in 1668.
The recognised Kneipp spa resort combines the elements of relaxation, nature, Kneipp and culture to create a unique experience. Active holidaymakers and health holidaymakers get moving: Whether on a hike on the Hermannsweg trail, a cycle tour on the Grenzgänger route, a relaxed shopping spree through the historic town centre or an exciting guided tour of the castle. Families enjoy the lofty heights on the treetop path or in the new climbing park.
TOP 10 sights
- The treetop path is almost 600 metres long and offers views and impressions in the treetops of the Waldkurpark. The view of the castle on the hillside opposite is marvellous. The digital adventure trail app features 30 interactive stations.
- The forest spa park combines a forest atmosphere with the themes of water, movement, discovery and relaxation. The treetop path offers a view of the park and its hidden treasures, works of art, lakes and giant trees.
- Exciting climbing elements, breathtaking views of the heights, thrills and fun await you in the climbing forest.
- The Kneipp adventure park offers water games and activity areas for young and old alike.
- Children will be delighted because everything here revolves around water, exercise and games. The park borders Lake Charlottensee and is also a great place to relax.
- The imposing Iburg Castle (with castle museum, knot garden and convent garden) on the Schlossberg dominates the townscape. The former residence and Benedictine abbey complex can be visited, as can the castle museum.
- Renaturalised areas, a bee-friendly sea of flowers and an insect hotel make the Tegelwiese adventure area a special nature experience between Charlottenburger Ring and Felsen Horeb. A walking trail along the Kolbach stream surprises with information and activity stations as well as an exercise ribbon.
- Time flies by very quickly, as the clock museum next to the town hall displays over 800 clocks and 300 years of clock history.
- The water treading area "Zum Freden" invites you to take a stork walk in the cool water - in the Kneipp tradition. Bad Iburg offers a total of five water treading sites.
- A farmer grows robust grapes and produces good wines in the "Teutoburger Südhang" vineyard. This is how successful viticulture works in the north.
- The restored granary of the Averbecks Hof cultural and meeting centre houses a local history museum with permanent exhibitions and changing special exhibitions.
