Hanover

A green, vibrant, diverse city

Hanover, the state capital of Niedersachsen, is renowned for its kiosks and its extensive green space, which covers an impressive 11% of the city’s area. Amid its lush surroundings, the city’s vibrant diversity truly comes to life. Hanover is certainly known as a trade fair city – but if that’s all you associate with it, you should definitely take a closer look during your visit. Hanover is like a pick-and-mix sweet stand, allowing you to create your own perfect experience. With plenty to offer, it caters to whatever your interest is. Fancy some relaxation? Head to the Eilenriede forest or the shores of Lake Maschsee, where you can unwind right in the heart of the city. Looking for culture or events? Hanover hosts a rich programme year-round – do check it out. Its districts are as diverse as they are charming, each with its own unique character. Yet they all have one thing in common: with charming corners and cosy cafés, you’ll always find a place to feel at ease.

Sights

Where to begin with all that Hanover has to offer? The Red Thread provides the perfect starting point – a red line painted on the pavement guides you to the city centre’s key attractions, offering a great overview. For a stunning perspective, take the arched lift to the viewing platform of the New Town Hall. From there, you can spot the Royal Gardens of Herrenhausen, famous for hosting the International Fireworks Competition – an absolute must-see. Craving some adventure? Try surfing on the Leinewelle, right in the middle of the Old Town.
