The third stage on the alternative route is just under 70 kilometers long and leads from the Pied Piper town of Hameln via Rinteln and Porta Westfalica to the stage destination of Minden.

Right at the start of the third stage, there is a cultural and historical highlight with the Pied Piper town of Hameln. The historic old town of Hameln scores points with restored half-timbered houses, narrow alleys and many references to the legend of the Pied Piper. On the left side of the Weser, the route partly follows the country road and runs through beautiful natural landscapes directly along the Weser via Haverbeck, Lachem until shortly before Fuhlen, where you cross the Weser side. Here, you can take a small detour to Hessisch Oldendorf to the Münchhausen village, one of the largest city castles of the Schaumburg nobility. Subsequently, the route leads you scenically along the Weser to Großenwieden. Here, you will be brought to the other side of the Weser with a reaction ferry that uses the river current. Passing the Orangerie Exten, you reach the former university and fortress town of Rinteln. Popular excursion destinations are the historic tours, the Eulenberg Museum and the Weserdorf experience beer garden. Back on the left Weser side, the route goes past many lakes, the Vlotho castle, and then to Porta Westfalica. Further north, after almost 70 kilometers, you reach the town of Minden with its diverse architectural styles and well-known cultural institutions.
