Oh fir tree, oh fir tree? In fact, Christmas living rooms are usually filled with spruce trees. And even in German forests, only two percent of all trees are real firs. You can easily recognize them by their upright cones, which almost never fall to the ground as a whole.
A rarely beautiful fir forest can be enjoyed with all your senses on the heights of the Wiehengebirge near Bad Essen - especially the wonderfully spicy scent of the upright trees. The TERRA.track Hünnefelder Tannen starts at the watermill and the historic sheepfold, behind whose pretty half-timbered façade the Bad Essen Art and Museum Association is active. The track first leads through the spa gardens and then further and further up, opening up ever more beautiful views of the brine spa town and its charming surroundings. The widest view is provided by the short detour to the Sonnenbrinkturm tower, which rises an additional 18 meters at an altitude of almost 200 meters. The panorama along the Mittelland Canal is simply magnificent. The route also descends along natural paths through unspoilt forest back to Bad Essen and its numerous good opportunities to enjoy a well-earned refreshment.
