In the Bad Essen arena, there is neither sport nor circus acrobatics to experience, but brine. The water from the depths of the Wiehengebirge is even richer in minerals than the water of the Dead Sea. It unfolds its full effect in the well-designed and incredibly attractive SoleArena. It trickles with a soothing ripple over six-metre-high blackthorn walls that form a room full of aerosol-rich air. At its center, the brine bubbles up incessantly in the water feature of the fountain bowl. Numerous nozzles also atomize it into a fine mist, which has an invigorating effect on the respiratory tract when inhaled deeply. This works without further ado on every spontaneous visit. Nevertheless, the weekly breathing therapy session every Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. is a popular meeting place, because with a few simple exercises, the powerful mist can be inhaled deep into the lowest alveoli. A pleasant side effect is that the droplets of brine that settle on the body nourish the skin, as the salt kills germs and acts as a gentle exfoliant.
Of course, the complexion becomes even clearer and fresher when you immerse yourself in the brine. Next door is the extensively modernized outdoor brine pool, whose various pools for swimmers, high divers and children are filled with brine diluted to a pleasant two percent salt content. Those traveling with the family will love the almost 20-metre-long wave slide, as it provides really healthy fun.
