The short Moorpad, just under three kilometers long, leads over the raised bog, a cultural landscape created by humans about 100 years ago. Here drainage took place, peat was cut and agriculture was practiced. All this has greatly changed the face of the moor; it is no longer a natural moor at this location.
Particularly exciting is to see the difference to the near-natural moor during a moor railway ride or a walk on another path. At the Moorpad, you can get interesting information on 13 information boards, an exciting moor legend and ideas for exploratory discovery. Additionally, for families, there is a Moorpad backpack with games, research supplies such as magnifying glass, measuring tape, identification aids and many other items to borrow at the MoorIZ information desk.

Author´s Tip / Recommendation of the author
Moorpad backpacks can be borrowed at the MoorIZ theme shop. Also, you should linger for a piece of cake at the café-restaurant Torfwerk.
Mosquitoes, horseflies and other bloodsuckers feel very comfortable in the moor. Long clothing offers good protection even in summer.
Safety guidelines
The moor is, among other things, a habitat for mosquitoes, ticks and horseflies. Especially in late summer and autumn, long clothing is recommended.
Appropriate mosquito and tick protection, e.g. by spray, is also advisable.
