Exploration Tour of the Moorlands, from Dümmer through Wagenfeld and Ströhen
Route length: approx. 74 km
The municipality of Wagenfeld, comprising the villages of Wagenfeld and Ströhen, is situated in the heart of the idyllic Diepholz Moor Lowlands, within the DümmerWeserLand region and the Dümmer Nature Park. Until the early 19th century, the majority of what is now the municipality of Wagenfeld belonged to Hesse. Wagenfeld was governed from Auburg, a castle situated on the floodplain, which can still be visited today. There are just as many legends surrounding the “Auburgers” as there are about the vast moorlands around Wagenfeld. While the “Legendary Wagenfeld” bike tour takes you to a total of 12 locations associated with legends, the new “Crane Tour” connects Lake Dümmer with the moorlands in Ströhen. Both tours have one thing in common: they wind through breathtaking scenery!
