Enjoy culture - that could be the motto for this entertaining hike between Liebenburg and Salzgitter-Bad.

The sculpture trail is just as much a part of this circular route as the Hausmannsturm tower and the baroque Liebenburg Castle.

You can enjoy a bite to eat at the Hasenspring forest restaurant, which is located directly on the hiking trail.

The start and end point for this tour is in the parking lot at the outdoor pool in Liebenburg.

This is a circular route that can alternatively be started and ended at any other point along the route described.

Directions

From the parking lot, the tour heads in a north-westerly direction. Past the Liebenburg school forest, the Liebenburg forestry office and the Schützenplatz shooting range, the route follows a well-maintained forest path to the edge of the forest, which is reached after approx. 3.5 km.

On reaching the edge of the forest, a wonderful view of Salzgitter-Bad opens up and you can see the Bismarck Tower on the opposite edge of the town.

The direction changes to north-east and the route descends into the Warnetal valley and the Köppelmannsberg nature reserve. You can cool off by treading water in the Plünneckenbrunnen fountain located there.

The first sculpture on this walk, "Shadow Dimension", is located in the immediate vicinity of the thermal brine pool. A few meters later follows "Head Salt Grid".

From here, it is just under a kilometer to the Hasenpring forest restaurant, where you will also find stamp point 16 of the Nördliches Harzvorland tourism association.

After the break, take the "Sparkassenweg" down to the north-western edge of the forest, where you can also see Jacob's Ladder.

The sculptures "Auf Ab Auf" and the "Wegkreuz Strautetal" follow. Shortly before Straute, the sculpture trail is left in an easterly direction to reach the Hausmannsturm on an idyllic path.

The strenuous climb is rewarded with an impressive view over the baroque Liebenburg Castle to the Harz Mountains with their highest peak, the Brocken (1141 m)

.

On the final stage, it is worth taking a short detour to Liebenburg Castle, the sculpture park with its viewpoint and the flanking tower.

A narrow path then leads down to the Liebenburg forestry and the asphalt road back to the starting point of the tour.
