For those interested in technology and history, a visit to the Fährstuv in Osten, the museum for the suspended ferry, is recommended. Here you find exciting hands-on information about this historic monument.
In Hemmoor, you don’t bite on granite—you encounter cement, because there not only are the German Cement Museum and the Cement Experience Trail, but also the Chalk Lake, which originated from chalk mining for cement production. Today, the lake is a mecca for divers. A special offer is an underwater exploration tour with the submarine.
From Oberndorf, you can explore one of the most beautiful tidal river landscapes of the North on the Oste by the oldest passenger ship in the Federal Republic of Germany, the 1872 Hamburg-built "Mocambo". A trip with this venerable lady is worthwhile!
In Hechthausen, a stop at the St. Mary’s Brick Church and the three-story windmill "Caroline" is recommended.
