Discover the varied natural landscape in the green triangle between the two estuaries of the Elbe and Weser and the North Sea coast.
Join natural rivers such as the Wümme, Hamme, Geeste and Lune on the one hand and the powerful and large rivers Weser and Elbe on the other. Enjoy the tranquillity of the vast geest and marsh landscape, clear lakes and breathtaking moors such as the Devil's Moor, which covers over 600 square meters. A special highlight of this tour is certainly the Wadden Sea UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here you should take the time to enjoy the spectacle of the ebb and flow of the North Sea in peace.
In addition to this varied natural landscape with its diverse flora and fauna, idyllic villages and small towns, coastal bathing resorts, the old Hanseatic cities of Bremen and Stade and the maritime cities of Bremerhaven and Cuxhaven invite you to explore, stop for a bite to eat and stay overnight.
The circular tour is suitable for a multi-day cycle tour as well as for interesting day trips.
If you want to cycle the entire 450 km cycle route, we recommend that you start at Bremen main station and follow the route anticlockwise towards Worpswede and Osterholz-Scharmbeck. Of course, it is possible to start at any other point along the route.
In addition to the main route, there are also three attractive alternative routes.
- The "Alternative route Bremervörde-Bremerhaven" and numerous rail connections along the route offer various options for shortening the cycle route or taking it as a day trip.
- You can cycle directly along the coast on the "Alternative route Cuxhaven-Bremerhaven".
- The "Alternative route Nordenham-Lemwerder"offers the opportunity to explore the Wesermarsch region and get to know the Jade Bay.

Directions
The round trip officially starts at Bremer Hauptbahnhof and leads in an anti-clockwise direction to the artists' village of Worpswede and the Teufelsmoor moorland region. From there, it goes via the moor metropolis of Gnarrenburg and the recreational town of Bremervörde on the Oste to the Hanseatic city of Stade and through the Alte Land on the Ebstrom, Germany's largest fruit-growing region.
The northernmost section of the route begins in Freiburg on the Elbe and takes you parallel to the Elbe to Cuxhaven. Here, the "Alte Liebe" viewing platform and the beach offer sweeping views of the North Sea or the UNESCO World Heritage Wadden Sea, depending on the tide. From there, the route continues across Cuxland, past the Ahlenmoor nature reserve and Lake Bederkesa to Bremerhaven. The seaside town offers exciting museums in the Havenwelten, which are all within walking distance and which you should take time to visit.
The last stage is accompanied by the Weser and leads via the northern Bremen district of Vegesack through the Wümmeniederung to the Freie Hansestadt Bremen. The historic heart of the city is the market square with the UNESCO World Heritage town hall and Roland statue and St. Peter's Cathedral. Nearby are the Bremen Town Musicians and the Schnoor, a winding old town district.

Additional information
The cycle path "From the Devil's Moor to the Wadden Sea" is a joint project between the tourist regions along the cycle path and the NABU environmental pyramid Bremervörde. There are many natural landscapes, diverse flora and numerous native animals to discover on the circular route.
NABU for people and nature
Within this landscape, NABU is committed to preserving the local area in a variety of ways - for the last remaining moors, where the golden plover and sundew are on the verge of disappearing, for the Wadden Sea as a hub of international bird migration and nursery for fish, for the wet meadows of the lowlands with lapwing, curlew and orchids, for traditional hedgerows as breeding grounds for redshank, brown rock thrush and yellowhammer and for the rich forests of the Geest with their own abundance of species.
The lapwing - heraldic animal of the cycle route
The symbol of these unique and protected natural areas is the lapwing, which points cyclists in the right direction on the cycle path. Its habitat - open, flat permanent grassland with floodplains - is highly endangered today due to drainage and other land uses.
