Salder Castle Municipal Museum

In its departments of Geological History, Prehistory and Early History, the Middle Ages, and the Modern Era, the Städtische Museum Schloss Salder presents the history of the region from prehistoric times through the early 20th century. With special exhibitions that have garnered attention beyond the region, the museum consistently draws large crowds, particularly in the field of art with the annual “Salon Salder,” held every fall. All sections of the Salder Castle Municipal Museum offer an extensive educational program featuring guided tours, workshops, children’s birthday parties, and hands-on activities.

Right off the “Museumstraße” entrance, there are two parking spaces for electric vehicles with a charging station (for a fee).

The museum is certified and recognized according to the “Kinderferienland Niedersachsen” criteria. The “Spürnasen Salzgitter” app—featuring fun characters—guides young and old explorers alike through the museum’s exhibitions in a playful way. They’ll need to solve puzzles and complete games, blending the exhibition with the virtual game world. The game can be downloaded for free—with no ads—from major app stores. For kids, there’s hardly a better way to explore the museum.
