Discover round corners in the Wendland.Elbe Nature Park
Round villages are the trademark of the Wendland.Elbe Nature Park. The settlement form from the 12th century is unique in the world today and part of a unique cultural landscape. Almost 100 of these round villages are still well preserved. Many of the hall houses typical of these villages are listed buildings. The Wendland.Elbe Nature Park is the most sparsely populated region in Lower Saxony. The variety of different landscape types is remarkable: The small-scale juxtaposition of villages, forests, meadows and fields, flat and hilly, dry and wet areas offers a constantly changing landscape over a few kilometers. The proportion of organic farming is above average and the range of regional products is diverse. Wendland has become home to many artists and people with alternative lifestyles. This has also given rise to an extremely colorful and lively cultural scene in the middle of rural areas.

The nature park is part of the National Natural Landscapes (NNL). In this alliance, the German national parks, nature parks, biosphere reserves and wilderness areas preserve fascinating nature together with the people on around a third of Germany's surface area, convey the joy of experiencing nature and shape the future sustainably with confidence. It stands for diversity, tolerance and democracy.
