Barrel 8

You are now at the end of the beer path at the square Neustädter Kirchplatz. This is where our heart lies: In the Einbecker Brauhaus.

But once again a look back: For a long time the citizens who owned houses with brewing rights brewed all the beer for their own needs and for export, in their houses. After the Thirty Years’ War, they started to make a common cause: They built a first community brewery at this place. Later on, two more followed. In 1794, all three community breweries were joined in one building that was destructed by a great fire in 1826. But was that a reason to give up brewing? By no means was that what the citizens of Einbeck wanted! Until the brewhouse was newly built (1846) people simply continued brewing in the brewery’s cellar that had been spared.

In 1843/44 a large part of the citizens transferred the brewing rights of their houses to the city, and the municipal steam brewery was founded. From 1873, for about 50 years, also the private brewery Domeier & Boden brewed beer in Einbeck. In 1922, the Hildesheimer Aktienbrauerei bought both breweries. The Einbecker Brauhaus Aktiengesellschaft (plc) was founded. Today, the Einbecker Brauhaus is an international company that stuck to its roots. More than 14 different types of beer and beer-mixture beverages are part of its product range. The Ainpöckisch is still brewed according to the original recipe.
