Worpswede, the famous artists’ village in the Teufelsmoor, is a place where art and nature merge in perfect harmony.
Just look at those clouds! The clouds and sky above Worpswede are like nowhere else. On some days the clouds look like vast mountains of cotton wool, through which the gentlest light percolates. It was this sky over Worpswede that drew artists and poets to the village. Painter Paula Modersohn-Becker simply called it a ‘wonderland’.
Germany’s most famous artists’ village offers an unrivalled idyll in a spectacular landscape. The Teufelsmoor (Devil’s Moor), with its mystical pools, distinctive vegetation and endless horizons, continues to inspire creatives to this day. Worpswede even has its own sand dune right in the village. And then there’s the village itself, adorned with cobbled streets and old farmhouses. Charm incarnate!
