Directions

Bremen, the hometown of the world-famous Town Musicians, is a trading and merchant city with all the facets of historical and modern lifestyle, where history and tradition combine with high-tech and science to create an exciting overall picture. The town hall, which has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as well as the Roland statue, which has watched over Bremen since 1404 on the historic market square, are the city's landmarks. In the Schnoor, Bremen's oldest district, restaurants, historic buildings, artisan workshops, and pubs line up.

Along Bremen's Weser promenade, the Schlachte, the route continues through Bremen's old town, across the fortifications past the Bürgerpark, and leads into the Untere Wümme nature reserve. The landscape here is characterized by freshwater mudflats, extensive reed beds and tall herb communities, as well as mostly fallow wet grasslands. The route then continues through the Dunger See and Werdersee nature reserves over the Lesum weir to the right side of the Weser. From here it goes steadily north until you reach the fishing harbor in Bremerhaven and the Bremerhaven city center.
