The sixth stage takes you from Verden to Bremen. It covers 68 kilometers passing Thedinghausen via Achim into the Hanseatic city. Here you can breathe in the northern air!

From Verden, the cycle path leads along the left side of the Weser to Achim. There are two ways to cross the Weser to reach the alternative route to Achim: one via the Intschede weir or later with the ferry "Gentsiet" (May-October).

Shortly before Achim, you change the side of the Weser and ride on the right side past the Achim windmill and the city center of Achim. Achim presents its charming pedestrian zone, between modern and old architecture, with highlights including the Achim windmill, the Clüverhaus, and St. Laurentius Church. From Achim, the alternative route leads directly along the right Weser side into the city center of the Hanseatic city of Bremen.

Directions

Coming from Verden, there are two opportunities to cross the Weser to reach Thedinghausen via the alternative route. First over the Intschede weir (closed until mid-2022) or later with the ferry "Gentsiet" (May-October). On the alternative route, the cycle path runs along the left side of the Weser past Intschede and Thedinghausen to Achim. Achim derives from "Acheim" and effectively means "place by the water." Achim charmingly displays its pedestrian zone, between modern and old architecture, where the traditional weekly market takes place on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Noteworthy highlights here include the Clüverhaus, St. Laurentius Church, and the "honey cake facade" of the honey cake factory.

The alternative route continues along the right side of the Weser, past the Achim windmill and the city center of Achim, directly to the city center of the Hanseatic city of Bremen. In Bremen, the hometown of the world-famous Town Musicians, you can expect a historical and modern lifestyle with numerous cultural and historical highlights. Highlights include the city's landmark, the town hall, which has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the statue of Roland, and the Schnoor quarter.
