This section of the Weser Cycle Route starts in the asparagus town of Nienburg and crosses the Weser many times until it reaches Verden. You ride through beautiful natural landscapes with fertile fields, lush meadows, and views of the Weser until you reach Drakenburg. In Drakenburg, you cross your first bridge and follow the lock canal to Sebbenhausen. Further north in Schweringen, you cross the Weser again and ride on an asphalt path to Hoya. You are now at the geographical center of Lower Saxony, marked by a stone. At the tourist information office in Hoya, you can collect a certificate of your visit. The cycle path continues through the expanse of the North German Plain, closer to the Weser again, passing through the community of Dörverden and the Wolfcenter. At the unique Wolfcenter, guests can get familiar with the animals. There are also two farmhouses in the community to admire, which are protected monuments. The cycle path then leads past Ried to your destination, the riding town of Verden. Here you have the chance to discover historical sights as well as the Verden Cathedral and the Cathedral Canon’s House.

Author´s Tip / Recommendation of the author
In Verden, you can view the 500 brass horseshoes embedded in the pavement slabs. They are laid out in the four horse gaits. After 500 horseshoes, you walk 500 steps until you reach the Horse Museum from the pedestrian zone.
