The starting point of this beautiful bike trip is the city of Hann. Münden with its historic old town, as well as more than 700 half-timbered houses and medieval buildings. The alternative route runs mostly on the left bank of the Weser with only a few ascents and is marked by the Weser Cycle Path logo with the label "Alternative Route." From here you follow the meanders of the river and pass through the municipality of Reinhardshagen with its romantic river landscape before heading further north to the town of Gewissenruh. Here you have cycled half of the stage and can enjoy the wonderful view over the Weser valley. A bicycle stop in the baroque town of Bad Karlshafen, with its historic sights and over 1000 years of cultural and religious history, is worth a break. The alternative route continues along the Weser until shortly after Herstelle you cross the bridge to the other bank. You leave the Weser and cycle a stretch along the road and through untouched nature and forest areas to Beverungen. The town presents itself as a colorful half-timbered city center with a varied landscape. The bike route now runs through the Solling-Vogler Nature Park and past Fürstenberg Castle, which towers magically over the Weser valley. Here a visit to the museum is worthwhile to discover the extensive collection of the famous Fürstenberg porcelain. After this historical highlight, you continue to your stage destination in the town of Höxter.
