This trail leads along sandy forest paths to a landscape that was once characteristic of the Hümmling: a juniper grove in the middle of heathland.

Hümmling paths: Wacholderpatt

Sandy paths lead through the woodland to the north of Börger. Past Bronze Age burial mounds hidden between trees and moss, you reach a landscape trees and moss, you reach a landscape that once characterized the Hümmling a juniper grove in the middle of a heath. Not far from this picturesque habitat, the historic sheepfold invites you to take a short break. From the Neolithic megalithic tombs of Börger to the tranquillity of the vast forests - nature and culture are closely interwoven on this trail.


Note: Hiking trail only accessible from Fri. 2 pm to Sun. 

The route leads partly through the military firing range area of the Wehrtechnische Dienststelle für Waffen und Munition. The Bundeswehr carries out tests with weapons and ammunition here. It is strictly forbidden to enter outside the authorized times. There is a danger to life. It is imperative that you stay on the paths during the permitted times. There may be dangerous substances and ammunition remnants on the site. Closed barriers, red traffic lights and other barriers must be observed and must not be bypassed under any circumstances.
