Hümmling trails: Ohetalrunde

Between Börger and Spahnharrenstätte, this impressive loop leads impressive loop through an interplay of forest and open countryside. Past past the living church made of wickerwork, after crossing the Ohe you reach the woodland around Ohe into the woodland around the Klingenberg. Small erratic blocks from the last ice age lead you to the legendary Männige Berge: a burial mound that was used as a burial ground for over which served as a burial site for over 1300 years. Even today, 61 heather-covered mounds still bear witness to the importance of this enchanting Bronze Age site. Nearby, the ancient Spahn beech tree invites you to take a break under its mighty crown.

Note: The Ohe can be crossed via large stepping stones. This requires a head for heights and surefootedness. During high water, the stones may be flooded, making it impossible to cross.
