Detailed route:
The 60 km long circular tour leads from Visselhövede train station past the striking water tower of Campus Sonnentau, a former candy and honey factory, towards the town center to a traffic circle. The route starts there and heads west to Nindorf and finally to Jeddingen. A tranquil village with a small, charming village store selling local produce and a hotel-restaurant with a beer garden in summer.
After another 13 km, partly on very good asphalt on the K228 between Dreeßel and Groß Sehlingen, the tour takes us along quiet side roads through extensive agricultural fields to the small village of Kirchwalsede. In the village center is the St. Bartholomäus-Kirche, a late Romanesque cycle path church from the 12th century. If you like, you can pay a visit to the historic building here to take in the history and architecture of the region.
We cycle to Unterstedt on farm tracks and through the tree-lined avenue of the K233. This village also offers refreshment stops before we reach the southern outskirts of the district town of Rotenburg (Wümme), where the partly patchy road surface on the roads "Zum Brook" and "Grafeler Damm" near a large tree nursery requires us to pay attention for a good 500 meters. The lively small town with its restaurants and cafés offers many places to stop for refreshments.
On the next section on the outskirts of the town, "Zwischen den Wasser", which appropriately leads across the Rodau and Wiedau to Rotenburg hospital, you should reduce your speed as there are usually also walkers on the way here. We soon change to the Fidi-Boon-Wech in the south of Rotenburg, a modern high-speed cycle path that was built on a former railroad line in 2024. This 8 km long, perfectly asphalted section offers cyclists an excellent opportunity to enjoy the speed and "switch off" a little, provided there are no other users on the road. This section is particularly pleasant to cycle, although you do have to cross two roads that have right of way. After the former Brockel railroad station, we cross the Wiedau again before turning onto Bellener Weg. Now begins a section with some deep holes in the asphalt, which requires special attention.
For the next 7 km, we cycle from Bellen, one of the least populated places in the district, on good asphalt on the K210, which is lined with dense tree-lined avenues, through the villages of Rosebruch and Hütthof to Buchholz. The route continues on partly well-paved roads through idyllic Buchholz and on side roads back to Visselhövede. The town hall and the St. Johanniskirche with its wooden bell tower provide great photo backdrops in the town center. Here there are opportunities to stop for refreshments in a cozy café or restaurant to round off the impressions of the circular tour before returning to the starting point of the tour, Visselhövede train station, via the traffic circle and past the clearly visible water tower.

Safety guidelines
The road traffic regulations (StVO) must always be observed.
Rural traffic always has priority.
Some sections may contain (small) potholes or cracks.
Some roads or cycle paths are (very) uneven in places and require careful riding.
Special notes for the southern loop:
Coming from Unterstedt before the outskirts of Rotenburg (Wümme), there are some cracks in the asphalt on the roads "Zum Brook" and "Auf den Gravel".
On the outskirts of Rotenburg, you should reduce your speed on the "Zwischen den Wasser" cycle path as far as Rotenburg Hospital, as there are usually pedestrians on the road.
Just before Bellen, there are numerous holes in the asphalt, some of which are larger. This affects an almost 2 km long section of a farm track (Bellener Weg). Reduce your speed here. An alternative bypass is not possible and an improvement to the road surface is in prospect.
