The landscape around Eitzte and Bademühlen really couldn't be more idyllic: romantic watermills, meandering streams, green stream valleys, lush meadows, an enchanted forest and the farming village of Godenstedt with an oil mill. A trail for anyone who likes to combine nature with history.

Directions
Our hike begins at the Eitzmühlen water mill, picturesquely situated on the upper reaches of the Oste, where the Oste-Café, which is open at weekends from the end of March to the beginning of October.
From here, we take the 200 m long access path to the second crossroads. This is where our circular walk starts, which first takes us to the Mergelkuhle. Until the beginning of the 20th century, the former Kuhle used to supply local agriculture and the entire Elbe-Weser region with fertilizer lime. Today, the groundwater-filled lake, which is a protected landscape, is a valuable habitat for flora and fauna. A large mammoth tusk was also found during excavations in the hollow. The NORDPFAD now continues to Godenstedt, a small village through which the Oste meanders and whose townscape is characterized by centuries-old oak trees and several farms. In the middle of Godenstedt, a master miller, whose surname is also Müller, runs an oil mill. This can be visited on request.
An information board at Rastplatz Godenstedt provides information about the history of the village and invites you to take a break, from where you have a great view of the landscape shaped by the Oste. Also worth seeing is the Godenstedt bell tower.
Leaving the village, we walk a little way along the cycle and footpath alongside the K 143 until a field path branches off to the right. From here, the route follows natural paths through fertile fields and lush meadows of the extensive Badetal valley. After approx. 2 km, we reach the eastern part of the Godenstedter Holz, which we now enter.
At a signposted crossroads, we take the 400 m long turn-off to the Wassermühle Bademühlen . The fully functional mill from the 16th
century is idyllically situated on a mill pond that is fed by the river Bade. This flows into the Oste south of Godenstedt. After a rest, we leave the beautiful mill ensemble behind us, return to the crossroads and walk along the NORDPFAD through the western trees of the Godenstedter Holz. We continue deeper and deeper through the dense foliage of the forest until, after 1 km, we reach a turn-off to the Hanni Hase Wald. This "fairytale forest" near the village of Ostereistedt is considered the "home" of the Easter Bunny and his helpers. A big Easter festival is held here every year.
We continue through the dense forest to the edge of the wood. From here, we can enjoy the sweeping views of the Geest landscape. At the end of the path, we cross the K 142 and turn left onto the asphalt cycle and hiking path. Passing Hof Martens, we follow the signs, which soon lead us to a field path, which we take back to Wassermühle Eitzmühlen.
Connection with other NORDPFADEN
The NORDPFAD directly crosses the NORDPFAD Zevener Geest. A signposted and marked 5 km long access path also leads from the Eitzmühlen watermill to starting point 1 of the NORDPFAD Ostetal.
