Diepholz is a wonderful place to explore on foot. We’ve put together a loop trail for you—our “Grafentour”—so you won’t miss any of the sights. The tour is also marked on our information signs, so all you have to do is follow the signs.
The Grafentour begins at City Hall. It continues to the charming Lohnstraße with its lovingly restored half-timbered houses. Here you’ll come across the old clothmaker’s house. If you keep following the street, you’ll automatically arrive at the Münte. This is where the coins of Diepholz’s noble lords used to be minted—along with their counterfeit money. The Münte is surrounded by the beautiful Müntepark, which invites you to linger with its lush greenery, water playground, mini-golf course, and outdoor pool.
Right next door is Diepholz’s landmark and the highlight of the tour: Diepholz Castle. In fact, it’s actually a moated castle with a moat. Feel free to take a little time here to explore the stele trail around the castle and the rose garden.
The next stop on the Counts’ Tour is St. Nicolai Church. It is a bright, neoclassical church built in 1806.
From here, you’ll reach Diepholz’s pedestrian zone, which features many owner-operated shops as well as charming cafés and ice cream parlors.&
How long will the walk take? That’s entirely up to you. We think you should take your time, because here, the journey is the destination.
Of course, you can also pick up a brochure for this tour at City Hall with additional information about the buildings.
