- Destination: Auetal, Local History Museum in Hattendorf
The circular route to the Auetal highlights starts at the Auetal Local History Museum in the Hattendorf district. Here, experience tradition! Visitors learn more about past life in the region. Passing the Antendorf windmill, the route leads to a true curiosity of the Weser Hills, the Süntel beech. This botanical rarity around Süntel and Deister is known for its bizarre growth and appears almost a bit eerie. On the way, two very different estates await: Gut Bodenengern, a picturesque moated castle, and the still operational Gut Oelbergen.
In contrast stands the Oelbergen valley bridge. The sandstone motorway bridge spans the valley over a length of 325 meters and is very impressive with its 14 arches. On the way back to Hattendorf, cyclists pass the Rehren chapel and a beautiful viewpoint. Along the route, there are many opportunities to take detours, especially worthwhile are the natour.NAH.zentrum Schillat Cave and the Langenfeld waterfall.
