The TownMuseum and CyclingHouse (StadtMuseum mit RadHaus) with bicycle exposition is located in an impressive timber-framed house in the street Auf dem Steinwege.
The sections of the TownMuseum that are well-worth vising are the coin cabinet, beer exposition, indigo dye printing, Friedrich Wilhelm Sertürner chamber, pre- and early history, Einbeck in the Middle Ages, an exposition on flight and expulsion using the example of Silesian refugees from Patschkau, and the hall with baroque tapestry (around 1770) and two-storied bay. The included CyclingHouse, a bicycle exposition, probably shows Germany’s latest cycling exposition, telling the history of the bicycle by means of numerous historic exhibits. The TownMuseum invites to touch, try, climb and participate to bring history to life.
Guided tours through the TownMuseum and CyclingHouse may be booked at the Tourist-Information Einbeck. Themed tours for children or celebrating children’s birthday parties are also on offer at the TownMuseum.
On request, a very special colleague accompanies events and guided tours, especially for children: Edgar is the first professionally trained museum dog, who makes a visit to the museum a very special experience.
Group offers may be accessed via the page of the TownMuseum.
The TownMuseum with CyclingHouse is located in a patrician house dated 1548. This late Gothic town and brewing house with large round-arched entrance gate and protruding upper-storey has impressive wood carvings especially on its façade. As a rare opportunity in Einbeck, the two-storied bay and the typical ornamental wood carvings in form of foundation beam ornaments, curtain arch ornaments, foliate cane and rope may be observed.
