The fact that the artistic Cestnik woodcut plates can also be modified as models and used for blue printing was already demonstrated at the celebration of the Einbeck artist's 100th birthday. Here and there a T-shirt and even a dress were created. These initial experiments sparked the idea of a whole experimental year of blue printing, which has been running for weeks now and celebrates the art of craftsmanship. "As an association and sponsor of the project, we have remained true to our motto of allowing Cestnik's pictures to step out of their frame and expand," says Patricia M. Keil from Konzert- & Kulturfreunde Einbeck e.V. Blue printer Ulf Ahrens has used many woodcuts for printing, experimenting with great patience and showing that blue printing can indeed enter into new symbioses. After a winter break, the Cestnik Gallery in the artist's birthplace at Wolperstr. 25 is now inviting visitors to the next permanent exhibition, which will focus on the color blue. "Cestnik goes blue" is dedicated exclusively to the artist's blue paintings. Blue is the symbol of vastness and longing, but also of truth and creativity. It is fair to say that these attributes also apply to Cestnik's art and his intention towards art. Rainer Cestnik has made a balanced selection to provide interesting insights into his father's art.
