All kinds of water sports can be practiced at Salzgittersee. Free large parking lots on the shore are easy to reach.

Lake Salzgitter is the water sports center of south-eastern Lower Saxony. At 75 hectares in size, it is considered an "El Dorado" for sailors, rowers, surfers, canoeists and divers; anglers and motel boat enthusiasts also get their money's worth. Of course, you can also "just" sunbathe on the miles of sandy beaches. There is a large 5-mast water ski facility, indoor and outdoor swimming pool, ice rink, tennis courts and barbecue areas, a disc golf course, beach volleyball courts and free leisure sports facilities with a Finn running track and pitches for soccer, roller field hockey, handball and basketball right next to Salzgittersee. Since summer 2020, free WiFi has been available around the lake under the name "freeWIFISalzgitter".

Öffentliche Verkehrsmittel
Salzgitter-Lebenstedt ist an die direkte Regionalbahnlinie nach Braunschweig angeschlossen. Im Halbstundentakt (montags bis freitags) und im Stundentakt am Wochenende bestehen hier Verbindungen. Diverse Buslinien steuern den Salzgittersee an.
