The spa gardens in Bad Rothenfelde: from the Old Spring to the Roses

.
For a spa park like the one in Bad Rothenfelde - there can be no doubt about that - the word "lustwandeln" was invented. Of course, strolling hundreds of metres along the graduation towers is only half the pleasure. For more or less off the main axis lie five beautiful themed gardens.
The oldest is the Concert Garden, which is considered the cradle of the place. For it was here that salt production began in the 18th century with the Old Spring. In the mid-19th century, the first summer holidaymakers came to take advantage of the healing power of the brine and the former factory yard was transformed into a garden with arcades, a pond and a concert pavilion. Today's concert shell and ticket booth are unmistakably from the Belle époque and regularly form the backdrop for the wine festival, the Christmas market and, of course, the daily spa music in summer.

If you leave the concert garden through the gatehouse, then stroll to the left past the spa administration and tourist information office across the road by the spa park, you will find the somewhat hidden garden by the Wittekind Sprudel. The Bauhaus-style fountain house was built where a diviner found a new, productive brine spring in 1931. The surrounding garden has been redesigned in recent times - among other things, there is a multi-generational fitness park and cosy seating niches.

At the opposite end of the graduation works, next to the Catholic church, is the Bible Garden, a very quietly designed area for pausing and meditating. The Bible Garden Bad Rothenfelde e.V. used the vision of the prophet Ezekiel (47, 1-12) as its "blueprint", which is about healing water, the abundance of nature and the river of life. In the scripture, this springs from under the temple threshold, in Bad Rothenfelde directly at the church.

A few steps away are the ponds at the end of the graduation works. This is the start of the Lindenallee nature garden, which leads to the Palsterkamp nature forest on the outskirts of the village - a very beautiful walk through wildflower and scattered fruit meadows, to ponds and a natural stream.

And the best for the end: the Rudi Wernemann rose garden, named after the former mayor who founded the "Freunde des Rosengartens e.V.". The members of the association still look after the Rosarium with its more than 200 varieties and over 6,500 plants - usually on Tuesdays and with particular dedication in June. Because at the end of the month, they celebrate the rose festival "Rose Time" with many guests. Do we need many more words about the fragrance and colourfulness of the blossoms? Perhaps this: Against the dark background of the graduation house, the blossoms shine all the more intensely. It is simply a pleasure to walk here.
