At the source of health: the Bad Laer adventure spa park

.
The Bad Laer Quell-Kolk is one of nature's little wonders. Whereas elsewhere brine springs usually had to be searched for a long time and laboriously drilled, here salt-rich water has been rising naturally from the depths since time immemorial. Together with a freshwater spring, it fills the spring pot, whose unusually blue-green flora constantly sways back and forth in rhythm with the rising water. Where the spring pool overflows, the Salzbach begins, whose water flows over the Bever, the small border river between North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony, and finally over the Ems into the North Sea - but that would take us much too far now. Because first the Salzbach feeds the Glockensee, the centrepiece of the Bad Laer Erlebnis-Kurpark.

The body of water owes its name to a legend about the devil who stole the bell from the church tower and thus disappeared into the depths - supposedly you can still hear it tinkling under water from time to time. It's hard to believe, because it's hard to think of a more cheerful and less devilish place than the six-hectare spa park. It can be enjoyed in a relaxed way - lying down on one of the relaxation loungers. It can also be experienced actively - on the exercise trail or on the barefoot path with its 21 different footprints. It can be explored with curiosity - 15 information boards on geology and history reveal, for example, why salt water springs up here in more than one spring and how the very special Bad Laer Piepstein came into being. You can even make music in the sound and rhythm garden with its impulse balls, triangles and other instruments.

Last but not least, the spa experience park can also be used to promote health. For example, in the water treading area, which is constantly fed with fresh, 7 degree cool water from Springmeyers Kolk - this invigorates and refreshes, strengthens the circulation and the body's defences. A stay in the graduation pavilion is good for the skin and especially for the respiratory tract. Within its four walls, piled up from countless blackthorn branches, the air is pregnant with aerosols from Bad Laer's brine. Take a deep breath - it invigorates and relaxes at the same time.
Every first weekend in August, the spa experience park can be enjoyed in a completely different way: At the Festival of 1000 Torches, there are three days of light and fire shows, music and dance - it's fun and enchanting.
