The typical river cave has become known, among other things, for the numerous bones of cave bears. The much larger cave is not only home to bats but also to the equally rare grotto olm. They live in an artificial lake, which is about 80 centimetres deep and has a permanent water temperature of 7° C.
Further attractions of the Hermannshöhle are the Kristalskammer (crystal chamber) and the 8000 year old pillar.
Both the Hermannshöhle and the Baumannshöhle can only be visited as part of a guided tour.
For safety reasons, individual exploration is not possible. Depending on the number of interested visitors, there is a guided tour starting about every half hour. The tour through one of the caves takes about 50 minutes.
