History museum
The buildings of the former Cistercian nunnery in Bersenbrück date back three centuries.
The south and west wings (the "New Abbey") were renovated from 1781-83, the north wing from 1626 ("Abbot's House" or "Old Abbey") was extended after the Thirty Years' War, as well as the dormitory, the east wing begun in 1269 with an early Gothic cloister.
The dormitory housed the nuns' workroom, the kitchen and the dining room (refectory). The dormitories were on the upper floor. After the dissolution of the convent in 1787,

the convent administrator moved into the buildings. He was also entrusted with the administration and jurisdiction of the Bersenbrück office, which was founded in 1817. Today, the building areas are used by the local court.
