Erntefest Aurich

On this day, Aurich’s market square is entirely in the hands of farmers and rural women from Aurich and the surrounding area. Plants, floral arrangements, pumpkins, and all sorts of delicacies draw in the many visitors. The rural women bake delicious cakes and East Frisian specialties such as Prüllkers, a sweet East Frisian pastry made in a deep frying pan. Locally produced sausage, cheese, and vegetables are available to sample and purchase everywhere. A musical program and information booths on agriculture and healthy eating round out the festivities. For those not from East Frisia: On this day, Low German is the dominant language in Aurich, so listen closely and enjoy the special atmosphere of the day.
