Temperatures are slowly starting to drop and the days are getting shorter again: Fall is just around the corner. That means it’s time once again to prepare the garden for fall. If you still need a yellow chrysanthemum, a white dahlia, or purple-flowering heather, you can look forward to the “Fall and Heather Market.” Once again this year, the market square will be filled from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with regional nurseries, whose colorful array of flowers features mainly fall-blooming varieties. But the discerning eye will also find, time and again, true rarities that are otherwise hard to come by. The market square will be transformed into a large autumnal garden. The offerings are complemented by numerous market stalls featuring seasonal products, decorations, and culinary specialties, ensuring a varied shopping experience.  

Starting at 12 p.m., the shops in Aurich’s downtown area will also open their doors, inviting visitors to enjoy a relaxed stroll and some shopping. Whether it’s fashion, books, or shoes—the diverse selection leaves little to be desired. For young visitors and families, the Commercial Association has organized a colorful program of activities: A children’s carousel, creative hands-on activities hosted by the Buratino Cultural Center, and lively street music will provide top-notch entertainment from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Aurich’s local restaurants are also joining in the fun, treating guests to regional specialties. A special highlight are the Lions Club booths: While the “tom Brook” Lions Club traditionally sells pumpkin bread for a good cause, the “Ostfriesland” Club offers delicious tarte flambée, and “Frisia Orientalis” is hosting a book flea market.

The Aurich Heidemarkt promises a varied program for young and old that reflects the region’s diversity and invites visitors to linger, enjoy, and discover.
