Emsfahrt Leer - Emden (Außenhafen)

At Ernst-Reuter-Platz, you are warmly welcome aboard the twin-screw steamship “Prinz Heinrich” for the approximately 3 1/2-hour cruise to Emden’s outer harbor. From the upper deck or the beautiful salon, you can watch the ship cast off. The steam whistle signals the opening of the Rathaus Bridge, allowing the ship to continue on to the Leer sea lock. After passing through the lock, you’ll cruise along the Leda River, past the old Leerort fortress, and onto the Ems River toward Emden. While enjoying coffee and cake, as well as light snacks from the ship’s galley, you’ll experience the passage under the open Jann-Berghaus Bridge. We invite you to take a tour of the ship. Feel free to explore the historic wheelhouse with its enormous steering wheel and the two engine telegraphs. Be sure to also take a look inside the engine room, where the two steam engines are operated by the engineers. Following the route of the large passenger ships built at the Meyer shipyard, you’ll pass Jemgum and Terborg on your way toward the Ems barrage in Gandersum. After passing through the barrage, the port of Emden will already come into view. The entrance into Emden’s outer harbor is particularly exciting as you make your way to the berth at Bridge II on the marina side. (From there, the separately bookable sea voyage to the North Sea island of Borkum begins.)
