Ausstellung - Nic Schaatsbergen

Sculpture as Photography: Nic Schaatsbergen captures the moment—the vitality—within the solid, rigid, yet earth-bound brick. Since earning her diploma in 2022, she has been exploring East Frisian clinker as a material in sculpture. Her work centers on the human being and its vitality and transience. On display is the full range of the brick as a physical form in art. In addition to sculptures, figurines, and reliefs that depict the human body—sometimes in an expressionist style, sometimes abstractly—there are also depictions of animals, abstract forms, and installations, some of which are combined with natural and building materials. For this is what interests the graduate sculptor: the connection between humans and nature. And the substance that binds us together. Renate and Michael Schildma.
