Ausstellung - Agnes Lörincz

Exhibition
Special exhibition
2026 Scholarship Recipient, “Patterns and Mimesis,” Painting
In her work, Agnes Lörincz frequently draws on elements from fashion, advertising, and the news, combining them with decorative fabrics and placing them in new contexts. Although her images appear representational and easily accessible at first glance, they go far beyond the visible. Lörincz explores societal behavioral patterns that follow a dress code—a visual set of rules that influences, directs, and manipulates.
The principle of deception permeates her work on multiple levels: only upon closer inspection do her paintings reveal themselves to be collages. Even in her more abstract works, Lörincz integrates fabrics so skillfully that the boundaries between painted and glued surfaces become virtually indistinguishable. This interplay with surface and superficiality, with appearance and reality, is a central element of her artistic practice.
