This building, a stunning example of Weser Renaissance architecture made of Suntel sandstone, is a standout feature of the town. Equally impressive is the city’s oldest church, the St Boniface Minster.

In summer, the town comes alive with large audiences flocking to the musical Rats and the Pied Piper open-air performances. These events offer a unique, humorous and emotional retelling of Hamelin’s history. Staying true to its mythical charm, Hamelin also hosts the Mystica Hamelon in spring – one of the most enchanting medieval and fantasy festivals in Niedersachsen.
