The Schwindebeck heathland is an insider tip. Used for military purposes until the 1990s,
it is now an impressive example of the revitalization of heathland landscapes.
On the Feldherrenhügel hill, you can enjoy the impressive view over the vastness
of the landscape. The Schwinde spring is the second spring with the most water in Lower Saxony.
The Luhetal valley offers evidence of a rich cultural history.
The historic farm buildings on Thansen estate, water mills, trickling meadows and diatomaceous earth ponds accompany the trail. On the Schwindebeck section of the route (6.8 km), you can discover information about the natural and cultural history of Lüneburg Heath in stamp boxes. Collect stamps for the Amelinghausen Heath Diploma and combine the tour into a small heath rally - fun for young and old alike.
