Summary:
Marktplatz Rodenkirchen - Strohausen - Kleinensiel - Oberdeich - Seefeld - Schwei - Hahnenknoop - Marktplatz Rodenkirchen
Route and places of interest (approx. 34 km):
From the market square in Rodenkirchen, the route runs along the dyke to the pumping station in Strohausen. The pumping station is used to irrigate the fields and drain the lowlands along the rivers. Take a short detour to the marina here. The fact that there was once lively trade here and even emigrants to overseas destinations set foot on the planks of ships is a thing of the past. Now only the ebb and flow of the tide determines life on the Siel. Sheep and horses on the dyke and in the meadows accompany you to the beach in Kleinensiel. Here you can take a break, jump into the water or relax on the sunbathing lawn. Watch the numerous sailing boats, traditional ships and the large steamers on the Weser and simply let your mind wander.
The route continues through the countryside towards Seefeld. You can let your gaze wander along the quiet farm tracks. Endless expanses await you, large farms next to small farms. Wind turbines can be seen again and again on the horizon, accompanying you throughout the entire tour. A visit to one of the many farm stores on the way to Seefelder Mühle, a gallery farm, gives you the opportunity to fill up your food basket with regional products. A treat for all the senses! Via the idyllic village of Schwei, you will travel to the replica of the oldest documented farmhouse in the German coastal marshes. Our tour guides will take you on a journey back in time to the Bronze Age. The Münstermann Altar in St. Matthew's Church in Rodenkirchen is located on the way to the market square and is an outstanding example of masterful art. Enjoy the alternation of the past with the modern on the Mühlen-Tour.
