Varied forest landscapes

The Heubergrunde, which leads once around the Heuberg (345 m) and Zwerberg (317 m) in the Hessian part of the Bramwald, is one of the quality tours of the Solling-Vogler Nature Park, which are characterized by a special quality. On this rather "wild tour", wonderful passages along narrow paths through mixed beech forests alternate with shady sections on lonely gravel and natural paths. The route offers wonderful views of the countryside and the villages in the Weser valley in the municipality of the same name. The view even extends as far as the Uslarer Land with the Solling mountain range. If you want to enjoy a varied forest landscape, are looking for "pure nature" and don't shy away from secluded, wilderness-like trails, then this tour is for you.

The starting point for this hike is the center of the village of Oedelsheim. From here, follow the markings of the Heubergrunde. Along the Kneipp treading pool, the trail initially takes gentle turns and mostly follows natural paths up to the edge of the forest, continuing through a beech forest until you reach a gravel path. Turn right here and cross a forest parking lot almost 500 m further on. Follow an asphalt forest road for about 600 m, which then turns into a gravel forest path. You take a wide left turn and after about 2,000 m you reach a rehabilitation center, across whose grounds the hiking tour leads. After leaving the clinic grounds, you continue partly on gravel and partly on near-natural paths. Approx. 900 m further on, you come to the edge of the forest and branch off to the left. You follow a meadow path towards Gieselwerder, with wonderful views of the Weser valley, always along the edge of the forest or at a short distance from it. Not far from the Weser, you enter the forest again. On mostly gravel paths, you hike around the south-western slope of the Heuberg. After a good 2,500 m, you leave the forest at the Berghof and walk downhill to your starting point in Oedelsheim.
