After just a few steps, you reach the first highlight, the Saline of Salzderhelden, which was rebuilt after a fire. It is not only a beautiful photo motif, but also an exciting part of the history of the village. The route continues along easily accessible graveland asphalt paths, past the idyllic Leinepolder and the imposing final structure of the flood retention basin
After around three kilometers, the path leads you past numerous blackberry hedges and further along the Leine meadows. It's worth taking a look on both sides: from here you have a great view of the Heldenburg and the impressive bridge over the B3 - a real eye-catcher!
The route then climbs a little, where another beautiful view of the bridge and the surrounding area awaits you.

In good weather, you can enjoy a breathtaking view over the town and the surrounding area. The impressive castle ruins tell their very own story - with a little imagination, you can wonderfully transport yourself back to times gone by.
On the way back you will pass the cozy restaurant "Burgschänke" - a lovely place to end the excursion with a drink or a delicious meal.
